About the Temple

Banke Bihari Temple is one of the most revered temples in Vrindavan, dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple was established in 1864 by Swami Haridas. The deity is in the Tribhanga posture - the thrice-bent form of Lord Krishna.

Temple Significance

The temple is famous for its unique darshan style where the curtain in front of the deity is not kept open continuously but is pulled every few minutes. This practice is called "Jhanki" and adds to the temple's mystical atmosphere.
